SYCAMORE – The Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary Club recently completed awards of its annual Community Grant for Children, Youth and Families of DeKalb County.
The club raises money through the Taste of DeKalb event to fund an annual $10,000 grant to a local nonprofit organization with a project that will directly benefit children, youth or families in the county. This is the third consecutive year the club has awarded grants.
One of the recipients this year is the Pay-It-Forward House. The program was awarded $1,200 to purchase new mattresses for guest rooms and a computer for guests to use while staying there. The Pay-It-Forward House provides physical and emotional rest in a homelike environment to the loved ones of patients receiving medical treatment in DeKalb County. Guests must be family members or direct caregivers of a local patient and donations are taken as payment for staying at the house. The house has been in operation since 2005 and is supported through donations and grants. More information on Pay-It-Forward House can be found at www.payitforwardhouse.org.
Heather Du Vall, executive director of Pay-It-Forward House, attended the Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary Club meeting on June 18 and accepted the grant check on behalf of the organization.
