Robert Carpenter, a scout from BSA Troop 2810 chartered out of Salem Lutheran Church of Sycamore, recently completed his Eagle project of arranging and performing several jazz concerts for the residents of the Grand Victorian in Sycamore.

Carpenter has been a gifted drummer for years so he chose this project to share his gift with others. He arranged with other musicians from Sycamore, DeKalb and Rockford to put on two jazz concerts.

Assisting Carpenter with his project were Kim Tokes, activity director at the Grand Victorian, and Sycamore High School band director Scott Mertens. Carpenter and Mertens put together a playlist that included “Chameleon,” “Blue Train,” “St. Thomas” and “Woodchopper’s Ball.” Musicians played the sax, trombone, trumpet, guitar, bass and drums.

Carpenter said he plans to continue these concerts in the future.
