SYCAMORE – Summer is here and it is time to get outside and explore. Worms, ladybugs, plants and vegetables are all part of summer memories. Children can visit the DeKalb County History Center to take a closer look at these topics through stories, songs and crafts.

“We love seeing children coming to the history center to discover, explore and experience all that our garden story times have to offer," Michelle Donahoe, the center's executive director, said in a news release. "They really get excited learning more about where they live and all of the wonderful things around them.”

The season starts Thursday with “Lovely Ladybugs,” and continues with “Interesting Insects” on June 20, “A Plant is made of Parts” on July 11, “Beautiful Butterflies” on July 18 and the season wraps up with “Vegetables from the Garden” on Aug. 8.

The program is for ages 3 to 6 (siblings are welcome), and it starts at 10 a.m. Registration is recommended for one or all programs. Call 815-895-5762 or email info@dekalbcounthistory.org.

The program is at the DeKalb County History Center, 1730 N. Main St. in Sycamore.
