DeKALB – “Blues at the Mansion,” the next concert in the Music at the Mansion series, will feature Johnny & The Boomers.
The show will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, on the lawn of the Ellwood House Museum in DeKalb.
Born on the muddy banks of the Kishwaukee River, Johnny & The Boomers has been a benchmark of the DeKalb County and northern Illinois blues sound for more than a decade. The five-piece powerhouse specializes in Chicago-style blues. They cover the whole genre from Mississippi to Maxwell Street with a little rock ’n’ roll seasoned to taste.
The opening act at 6:30 p.m. will be Dave “DK” Kolars, who has performed for years in the DeKalb area as well as traveled the country with his solo act and played with a variety of groups. Kolars recently played a gig in Chicago at Wishbone North and performed in Hawaii in February.
The concert is free. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket.
The Ellwood House is located at 509 N. First St. in DeKalb. Parking is available near the Ellwood House and at the Clinton Rosette Middle School and First Congregational United Church of Christ parking lots.
