KC Adult Education classes offered this fall

MALTA – Kishwaukee College Adult Education classes will open for registration on July 31.

Classes are for people interested in preparing to take the GED, people with English as a Second Language interested in increasing their English-language skills, and people interested in learning about the United States citizenship process. Anyone interested in these courses must attend one of the registrations prior to the start of class.

Registration is available on Kish campus as well as throughout the community. Learners should schedule at least three hours for registration, orientation and placement testing. Classes are free to take.

High School Equivalency classes prepare students to take the GED. Subject areas covered in class include reading, writing, social studies, science, math, and the U.S. Constitution. The class places emphasis on practical application of the subjects and total development of the learner. For fall 2019, the college will offer multiple 8-week classes to choose from.

Beginning, intermediate and advanced ESL classes will run for 13 weeks. One beginner/intermediate ESL class held on Kish campus this fall will focus on computer skills along with English-language development.

This semester, the college also will offer a citizenship class for people interested in learning about the U.S. citizenship process. Relevant information for the U.S. Citizenship test, basic interviewing, test-tasking skills, and English vocabulary and grammar will be covered, among other topics. Class participants must provide a copy of legal, permanent residency documentation at enrollment time.
