SEF to honor alumni and host ‘Take Root’ fundraiser

The Sycamore Education Foundation, School District and Alumni Committee will honor the recipients of this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award at a reception on Sept. 14 at Sycamore High School.

This year’s inductees are Bill Lenschow (class of 1955), Leatrice Satterwhite (1988), and Jeri Delaney, the first staff alumni to be chosen.

The ceremony to honor the inductees begins at noon with a tour of the high school, highlighting the latest advancements resulting from community donations. Reception following will feature light refreshments. The induction ceremony and unveiling of honorary plaques begins at 2 p.m. This event is free to the public.

The SEF will host its annual fundraiser, “Take Root,” from 6 to 11 p.m. Sept. 14. This year’s event, “A Harvest Hoedown,” again will be at Dayton Farms in Sycamore. Tickets cost $40 and include food, beer and wine, live music, and silent and live auction items.

Tickets are available online at sycamoresef.org or at Shawn’s Coffee Shop and Kar-Fre Flowers, both longtime SEF-supporting businesses. All proceeds are channeled directly to the students of Sycamore schools by encouraging educators to innovate and enhance their classrooms and curriculum.
