Health, safety and OSHA compliant training offered

Kishwaukee College will offer a variety of health and safety training classes and Occupational Safety and Health Act compliance topics this fall. The classes are open enrollment and designed to help working professionals maintain OSHA compliance within their industry.

OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry training will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 24 and from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 25. The training is recommended for managers, supervisors, team leaders, members of the company safety committee and employees that oversee contractors.

All materials are included. Participants must present a valid photo ID to earn the OSHA 10-hour construction industry card upon successful completion. A light breakfast will provided both days and lunch will be provided on the first day only. Training cost is $299.

Forklift Operation Safety and Train-the-Trainer will be from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 9. The class will review the Powered Industrial Truck Training Standard, including inspection and materials handling. The class also will include the requirements for an in-house training program. Training cost is $149.

Department of Transportation Hazmat will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 9. This training includes new changes in the 49 CFR hazardous materials table, packaging of materials, shipping paper and other documentation. Participants are encouraged to bring a list of products they ship or receive and samples of shipping papers. A review of the Emergency Response Guidebook also will covered. Training cost is $149.

OSHA 10-hour General Industry training will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 20 and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 21. The training will include information on the updated changes to illness and injury record keeping. All materials included. Participants must present a valid photo ID to earn the OSHA 10-hour general industry card upon successful completion. A light breakfast will be provided both days and lunch will be provided on the first day only. Training cost is $299.

All classes will be taught by Jeff Clark. He has more than 20 years of experience as a safety and health instructor, and employs innovative, hands-on training techniques specifically designed for the adult learner.
